These roadside shrines commemorate the places of fatal accidents and celebrate lives cut short. Most are erected and maintained by families and friends. Some are reminders of the danger of driving while impaired.
Many are placed in areas that are dangerous to walk to and impossible to photograph. Some are accessible and easily recorded. All represent memories known only to a few.
